Roland Piche was born in London, England in 1938. After studying at Hornsey College of Art and the Royal College of Art, Piche’s artistic style had a uniqueness to it that made his work impossible to place into any preexisting school. His style was influenced by American art of the first half of the twentieth century, and an interest in European humanism and Egyptian formalism can also be seen.

He taught at Maidstone and Canterbury Colleges of Art where he was the Principal Lecturer and Head of Sculpture. Through his teachings and research Piche explored the First Principles of Sculpture and the nature of the medium.

Piche’s works are included in many notable collections including the Royal College of Art in London, England; Museum of Modern Art in New York, New York; British Council in Manchester, England; Sao Paulo Museum in Sao Paulo, Brazil; and the Gothenburg Museum in Gothenburg, Sweden.
